Curves Franchise

The Curves franchise is a woman only gym that was established n 1992 and started franchising in 1995. The intention of the organization is to help in empowering women in your local community while at the same time earning lucrative income.

The idea to start the business was developed by a 20-year old pre-med student called Gary Heavin. Gary took over a non-profitable fitness center that was located in Houston and then turned around the business. After operating the fitness center for five years, he opened 6 centers. 10 years later when his business had 17 operational units it collapsed. Out of determination to succeed, Gary decided to learn from his past mistakes and start another business. He opened Curves for Women which s a fitness center for women only in 1992 at Harlingen, Texas. Franchising of the business started in 1995.

To become an affiliate of Curves Franchise, you require total investment of about $36,400 to $42,900. The initial franchise fee of the business stands at $39,900. A royalty fee of 5% is applicable on all the franchisees. The terms of contract expires in 5 years.

New franchisees are offered complete training by the franchiser. There are occasional regional meetings, local events lasting for a day and conventions that can take up to three days. Franchisees are equipped with the relevant details and schedule to be followed during exercises.

Unlimited and continued support is also offered to help the franchisees to ensure constant development. The support can be offered in form of meetings, newsletters, grand opening, Toll-free phone lie, field evaluations and through the internet. The Curves franchise is the largest fitness franchise in the world with locations in more than 85 countries across all the continents.

Marketing assistance is offered to the franchisees.  The marketing is attained through ad slicks, co-op advertising regional media and national media. Award wining grand openings is another way used in popularizing the new business.

Above 50% of the franchisees own more than a single business unit. Only two people are required to be capable of running franchised business successfully. Although 70% of the franchised units are owner operated, absentee ownership of the business is allowed.

The franchisees don’t have to be fitness enthusiasts. Basic business management skills, marketing skills and financial stability are the main requirements to be franchised. The exercises that are offered are highly versatile with just a single work out requiring 30 minutes only to be accomplished. The income of the business is fully scalable since the more clients that are held, the higher the income.
