Dairy Queen Franchise

Dairy Queen Franchise was pioneered by JF McCullough who was an ice cream manufacturer. He was experimenting with a recipe of frozen dairy products as he believed that ice cream will taste better when made from soft and fresh products. With time, McCullough perfected and his first customer was his son Alex who later sought customers. When the gospel of this product hit the market more that 1,600 people lined up to buy this product daily.

In 1940, McCullough together with his son opened their first Dairy Queen store in Joliet, Illinois. Their main aim was to sell soft-serve ice cream which they succeeded as they attracted a large number of customers. With time, they beefed up their menu to start offering other kinds of ice creams and other first foods like banana splits and Dilly Bars. This is what led to opening of other stores in different parts of America.

In 1950s some of the Dairy Queen stores started serving hot food items. In the modern days, these stores sell hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken strips. These are high quality foods that have satisfied the needs of customers via Dairy Queen's Brazier concept. However franchisees are allowed to run a Dairy Queen with or without a Brazier. This franchise also offers its Treat Center concept, a store that is involved n the sale of products from three franchise companies which it owns- Dairy Queen, Orange Julius and Karmelkorn.

The Dairy Queen franchise is now commanding over 5900 stores in different states of the United States and Canada. It has stores in over 22 states that operate under its name. Texas leads in the number of locations as it has over 600 locations.
