American Franchises

Would you like to know about some of the most promising American franchises today? Well, how about Costco? It happens to be among the biggest membership warehouse based club chains on earth, at least on the basis of total sales volume. This chain has its headquarter in Issaquah of Washington, US. The flagship warehouse remains in Seattle, though. Costco has Canada based operations in Ottawa, Ontario. It’s the 4th largest general retailer within the whole US. Or, how about the American franchises like K Mart? According to the data found till January of 2006, it operated 1,400+ Kmart stores across 49 states and in Guam, Puerto Rico, as well as in the Virgin Islands of the US. The store count then included 1,360+ discount stores, which averaged around 92,000 sq. feet, and there were 55 Super Centers, which averaged around 165,000 sq. feet. The world headquarters of Kmart was in Troy, Michigan, within an extensive complex that, since Kmart’s moving to Illinois, had been slated for destruction. But Kmart got a solid reputation for the “Blue Light Specials.” Target is a US retailing company, which was originally established in Minneapolis of Minnesota in the early 1900s. It was named under the brand of Dayton Dry Goods Company. Back in the 1960s, the initial Target store made its debut in Roseville of Minnesota. Back in 2000 this company brought a change in its name converting from Dayton Hudson to Target. It’s the 5th largest retailer through sales revenue within the US. Kroger is another US retail level supermarket chain as well as a parent company, which was established by Bernard Henry Kroger back in the 1880s in Cincinnati of Ohio. This one reported US$70+ billion in the sales volume in the fiscal year 2008. It’s currently the 2nd largest grocery level retailer within the country in terms of volume and America’s 3rd largest general retailer. Lowe’s is another one among American franchises, which remains a US-based retail chain in the home improvement sector and it specializes in home appliances. It was founded back in the 1940s in North Wilkesboro of North Carolina. This chain is currently serving 14+ million customers per week through its 1,550+ stores in the US states and in Canada. Lowe’s is now operating its stores in the 50 states of America. Its expansion in Canada started in 2007. It has stores in major areas like in Hamilton and Ontario. These franchises are worth trying.
